Summary:
A Sports Hub for Singapore that costs $1.33 billion to construct, is promised not to allow this cost to trickle down to consumers and tenements in terms of ticket prices and rentals. A new natural grass turf is being put into place. This type of turf is preferred because like many top teams in sports, they demand natural turfs. To keep prices down, they'll closely monitor the pricing of things at the Sports Hub. Overall the Sports Bug was built under a public-private partnership scheme.
Thoughts:
I believe that the government should not have built this stadium at all. They built this though a scheme and a government should set an example for the people on how to act. I also believe that the government should not have spent all this money to construct a stadium because the field of entertainment should be left up to private corporations. This article also angers me because they had originally planned to have a lay-and-play turf which was costly but then decided to change it up just because many top sports teams would demand real grass. Overall I feel like the government is wasting their time and energy on this stadium.
How this ties into politics:
This article ties into politics because the government themselves were involved in the creation of the stadium. They are also taking time out of their day to monitor the costs so that consumers will not receive inflated prices. This is an example of how the government can exert their influence on a community. This is also important to Singapore politics because it could be seen that the government is trying to boost the economy through entertainment.
